Professional genogram, ecomap and family assessment tool — built for UK social workers, by the AISW team.
Build genograms, ecomaps, timelines, circles of support and cultural assessments. Generate court-ready reports. All data stays on your device — never on our servers, never sent to an AI.
AISW Kinship is a free, UK-built web application for children’s social workers, family support practitioners and independent social workers. It replaces expensive desktop genogram software (such as GenoPro) with a modern, accessible, local-first tool that works in any browser — including offline on a tablet during a home visit. Case data stays on your device.
The tool covers the full family assessment picture: genogram structure, ecomap support networks, significant chronology, circles of support, contextual safeguarding peer networks, cultural genogram assessment, and Three Houses direct work with children. It then auto-drafts a written assessment report mapped to the Framework for Assessment (Assessment Triangle) — on your device, with no case data ever transmitted externally.
Built for Northamptonshire Children’s Trust practitioners and now available to any UK social work professional, AISW Kinship is part of the AISW Toolkit suite alongside the Direct Payments Calculator, Rota App and My Three Houses.
Build multi-generational family maps using McGoldrick/Gerson standard symbols. Supports same-sex partnerships, blended families, kinship care, cultural heritage rings, and twin connectors. Auto-layout positions children under their parent couple.
Map the family’s external support systems — CAMHS, school, social care, housing, faith community and more. Directional energy-flow arrows show whether resources flow to or from the family. UK service templates included.
Build a chronological record of significant events: placements, court hearings, CP plans, LAC reviews, assessments and contact. Colour-coded by category. Suitable for court chronologies and Section 47 recording.
Place the child's network on concentric circles from intimate (daily contact) to outer. Drag people between levels as relationships change. Identifies protective factors for Signs of Safety and permanence planning.
Map extra-familial harm and peer networks for contextual safeguarding work. Flag CCE, CSE, trafficking and gang risks. Log restorative practice interventions. Aligned with current UK safeguarding policy direction.
Colour-code heritage groups across the family (Hardy & Laszloffy method), capture faith, languages and migration. Complete the Congress Culturagram — 10-dimension cultural assessment including legal status, discrimination, and family values.

Generated on-device. No data is transmitted externally. Always verify before using in any record or report.
All case data is stored in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to our servers. You control when — and whether — data ever leaves your device.
The "AI-assisted" features (narrative, pattern detection) are deterministic on-device logic. No case data is transmitted to any AI model, ever. Because case data never leaves your device, your organisation remains the data controller — confirm fit with your own information-governance team before using real case data.
Export encrypted backups for USB or personal storage, or to your organisation's approved storage (e.g. OneDrive). Court mode redacts sensitive notes for shared output.
AISW Kinship is an installable PWA. Once loaded, it works without an internet connection — ideal for home visits, court buildings, or any setting with poor signal.
Child & Family Assessments, Section 47 enquiries, Child Protection Conferences, CIN plans.
Expert witness reports, pre-proceedings assessments, parenting capacity assessments.
Early Help assessments, Team Around the Child meetings, Signs of Safety mapping.
Contextual safeguarding peer mapping, CCE/CSE risk identification, restorative practice logging.
SGO viability assessments, mapping the child's network, cultural identity in placement.

All case data is stored only in your browser's local storage — it never touches our servers. The AI-assisted features run entirely on your device; no case information is sent to any AI model. Because case content never reaches us, your organisation (not us) remains the data controller for case records. We don't make a blanket "GDPR compliant" or "safe for Article 9 special-category data" claim on your behalf — your information-governance team should confirm the tool fits your local policies (and complete any required DPIA) before you use it with real case data. Export to your organisation's approved secure storage (e.g. NCT OneDrive) for backup.
GenoPro is a US desktop tool — it requires installation, has no UK social work context (no Section 47, CAMHS, YOT, SGO, etc.), and has no local-first data model. Lucidchart is a generic diagrammer with no clinical meaning. AISW Kinship is UK-built, keeps case data on your device (accounts hosted in London/europe-west2), understands UK statutory frameworks, works in your browser with no install, and includes contextual safeguarding, Three Houses, and cultural genogram features that no competitor offers.
Yes. AISW Kinship is an installable PWA — once loaded it works fully offline. Add it to your home screen from Chrome or Safari and it behaves like a native app. Pinch-to-zoom and touch interaction are built in.
Yes. The app has a Court Mode that redacts sensitive notes, high-DPI PDF/PNG export, and a true-vector SVG export (crisp at any zoom). The Full Report also generates a draft narrative mapped to the Framework for Assessment that you can copy-paste into your court statement and edit.
The Free tier supports up to 25 people per case with all five views and all exports — sufficient for most assessments. The Solo Practitioner plan (£29/month ex-VAT) removes the limit. Local authorities and trusts can access a site licence via G-Cloud.
A cultural genogram overlays cultural identity onto the family structure — following Hardy & Laszloffy's method. In AISW Kinship, each person's heritage groups are shown as colour-coded rings around their node, so intercultural unions and mixed heritage are visible across generations. The Culturagram (Congress) captures ten cultural dimensions including legal status, language, health beliefs, discrimination, and family values.
AISW Kinship is one of seven tools in the AISW suite — all built for UK social work practice.
Free to use. Works in your browser. No install. Your data never leaves your device.
AISW Kinship is local-first — case data stays on your device. Accounts and subscriptions are hosted in the UK (London / europe-west2).
